SING

It is the holidays and one of the things I love to do over the holidays is go see movies.  We are in Montreal and thought we would go check out the movie Sing.

I loved it. My kids loved it. We all loved it.

There were two things that especially struck a cord:

  1. I loved how even though Meena, the young Elephant girl was scared to sing in front of an audience, her grandfather and her koala “boss” encouraged her to move through her fear and overcome it.  They said to her, “all you have to do is sing and you have done it”.  She doubted herself, like many of us do, but the people (or animals in Meena’s case) that loved her gently encouraged her to unfold. To be the “biggest” self that she could be.  Those that loved her showed persistence, faith and most importantly, love.  They believed in her and she felt it.

2. The movie also reminded me about the euphoric feeling and emotion that music, shows, concerts can create.  Whether you are putting them on, or have the privilege of watching in the audience, they give you an opportunity to tap into the “undercurrent” of life, connection, unity and love.  Those are the best concerts, the best shows and the potential for that make them so worthwhile.  So fun.  As Meena, sings in the scene in this photo, “Don’t you worry about a thing!”.
